Things you should know before purchasing a water filter: part 6

Ultrafiltration Filters or UF filters

UF filters uses little threads made out of Hollow Fibers that are able to separate unwanted particles from the water. As water flows through the UF filter, soluble chemicals, viruses and bacteria become trapped inside the membranes of the filter.

Advantages of a UF filter

  • UF filters doesn't require electricity to operate.
  • UF filters work in conditions with low water pressure.
  • The membrane of the UF filter can be cleaned many times. It is very durable and has a long working lifetime.

Disadvantages of a UF filter

  • UF filters should not be used with groundwater or water that has a high amount of insoluble particles and instead should be used with water that is intended for household uses.
  • The membrane of the filter requires regular maintenance to prevent the building of bacteria and other harmful substances.
