Things you should know before purchasing a water filter: part 1

Today, water filters have advance so that water goes through 3 or 5 stages of filter and uses many systems of treatment such as RO, UF and UV.

In this part, we will be talking about the PP filter and Sediment filter. These two filters have been designed to filter out impurities such as small rocks, dirt and sand. The filters work by trapping unwanted particles as the water flows pass through the system. These filters are categorized based on the size of the filters, in microns.

These filters are sorted into two types, Nominal and Absolute. Nominal filters are able to filter out 85 percent of impurities. For example, a nominal 5 filter would be able to filter 85 percent of impurities that are 5 microns or larger in size. Absolute filters are able to filter out 99.99 percent of impurities. This means that an absolute 5 filter would be able to filter out 99.99 percent of impurities that are 5 microns or larger.

Sediment filters are the first stage of filter in a normal water filter system. In the next part, we will talk about the different types of sediment filters.
